“当下·无界·跨域”——当代艺术三个展将于2017年7月1日在上海多伦现代美术馆隆重开幕,本次展览由台湾知名策展人、艺术家蔡志荣策划,将以三个展的形式分别呈现林霞、傅作新、清水峰子三位艺术家创作的装置、绘画和影像作品。

Contemporary ‧ Borderless ‧ Interdisciplinary - Three Solo Exhibitions of Contemporary Art will grandly launch in Shanghai Duolun Museum of Modern Art at 3pm, 1st, July, 2017. This exhibition is curated by the famous curator and artist Dino Tsai. Paintings, installations and video works of three artists from Taiwan and Japan  will be on display.

      当代艺术趋向形式与题材多元化,其范畴已非仅视觉的感官经验,艺术家个人观念、经验、形式、语言等等,都体现辩证着其本体的演译脉络,透过不同的艺术实践、媒材运用,验证自我存在价值。法国哲学家吉尔‧德勒兹 ( Gilles Deleuze, 1925-1995) 在《迭奏曲》中提出『地下茎』的概念,除强调多样性互动关系的横向开放系统,与当下跨界的现象吻合外,自我本体的独特价值亦是无法被遮蔽,因此,在当下无界跨域的艺术氛围里,着重本体个人的多元艺术实践是当代艺术的核心。而将自我对于生命体验当成一种创作的媒介,即是以『我』为媒介进行艺术表现,将自我本体行为、经验为纵向,时间、空间为横向,由此交织当下艺术的组成元素。二十世纪初期,未来主义(Futurism)艺术家首次提出复合媒材以及艺术创作中「行为」表现的可能性,俄罗斯构成主义(Constructivism)则将艺术活动延伸到剧场与街头,透过实验电影和舞台表演等形式,藉人与舞台装置的结合而拓展了新的表演领域,德国包豪斯(Bauhaus)的实验舞台更整合物体、空间、人物动态、光等各种复合媒材,而将艺术形式推展至更多元的境域。

Since contemporary art has been approaching toward a variety of form and theme, the scope of art creation goes beyond sensory experience. The increase of importance of the artist’s concepts, personal experience, artistic language, and preferred style indicates the artist’s willful exploration in the context of art—with differing executions, interpretations, and use of materials—as the way to confirm her/his existence. French philosopher Gilles Deleuze (1925-1995) made a metaphor of the “underground stem” in an article called “Ritornello,” emphasizing an open horizontal system allowing a wide array of interactions, which corresponds to current “across-boundaries” phenomenon, and advocating the unique value of the artist her/himself. Therefore, amid the “here and now, infinitude, and across-boundaries” atmosphere, the core of contemporary art lies in the execution of diverse forms, which stresses the artist her/himself.  A considerable number of contemporary artists use themselves as a medium for artistic representations; that is, the artist’s behavior and experience are used as vertical axis, whereas the temporal-spatial structure as the horizontal axis, entwining the tapestry of art.

      “当下‧无界‧跨域”三个展,即是艺术家面对环境流变,传统道德价值观传统崩解与再建构,而藉自我辩证艺术实践方式所构筑的创作世界。艺术作品常被视为一种再现形式,再现性的事物(representation)是对客观物体对象作再一次的呈现,经注入个人诠释空间与语汇后所呈现出的新面貌。实际上,其隐含着一种被认为是这个印象所欲表达对象物之间的关系。于是,如何在此交错复杂的复合体中,再次翻转形式而以独特的艺术价值和面貌的呈现,是艺术创作者关注之事。

The exhibition titled “Here and Now, Infinitude, Across-boundaries” displays the artworks created by three artists: Fu Tso-Hsin, Mineko Shimizu, and Cynthia Lin. This world of art is created by a dialectical execution of art under the swiftly changing circumstances where traditional culture and value are replaced by a new system of values. Works of art have been viewed as a representation, which means the object which is being gazed at is being re-presented with personal interpretation and creative language. In fact, this implies the hidden relationship between the viewer and the viewed object. Hence how to present art with aesthetic appeal in this complicated context has become the main concern of artists.

       此展览中,艺术家以自身身体当作创作的直接或间接媒介,透过身体所经历的事件、或自我身体所介入的行为,转译成一种语言符码,通过此有形的符码真切诠释出艺术家抽象的内在风景。因此,这次策展即探讨全球化与尖端科技笼罩下的洲际间艺术流通后的异与同,三位艺术家分别为留法的傅作新、来自日本却留学大陆、台湾的清水峰子和生于台湾现旅居美国的林霞,他们有相似的背景、面对同等的环境考验,精确而敏锐地藉作品反映着时代变动,与信息化的符号、图像的全球境遇现象,借用多元媒介、突出的艺术语言,完整体现全球化的当代艺术家的新颍感知与丰富的个人体验,并藉由自我独特语汇串连着本体与科技社会、全球化系统的关联性,内容丰富精彩、形式多元前进,艺术家们所运用的多种视觉语言载体充分展现当代艺术家宽阔的创作视野。

In this exhibition, three artists either use their bodies as direct or indirect medium to art creation, so as to decode their past experience or behavior (shown on their physical bodies) and inner landscapes over the canvas. When curating this art show, we intend to explore the similarities and differences existing among continents under the circumstances of globalization and cutting-edge technology. Of the three artists are a Taiwanese Fu Tso-Hsin, who pursued further study in France; a native Japanese Mineko Shimizu, who studied in mainland China and Taiwan; and Cynthia Lin, also a Taiwanese who is now living in the United States.   They share a similar background and are confronted with the same challenges of this age; unsurprisingly, they unanimously choose to use multiple materials and conspicuous artistic language, and technology icons, signs, and symbols to portray the tumultuous changes occurring in this age. This perfectly demonstrates how contemporary artists perceive the pulsations brought by globalization and what they think and feel about the upheaval at this age. Apparently their smart use of multiple visual media and materials helps to create very individualistic language that echoes the relationship among individuals, high-tech society, and a global system; thus a broadened vista and diversified content are presented before the audience.
